The rustic appeal of industrial chic decor has made its mark on mainstream interior design—Hello, Restoration Hardware and I’m loving the black Thrshd Canisters with metallic lids spotted at Target! With its rough around the edges sensibilities vintage industrial statement pieces speak to our nostalgia for America’s hardworking era of industrialism. I love juxtaposing industrial chic decor with over-the-top glam—opulent textures, refined lines and gold, lots of gold.

Much to my reluctance, we recently decided to part ways with our vintage industrial drafting light table (an original from Fluor Daniel). If only our home were large enough—it’s the ideal kitchen island/breakfast bar—and a perfect utilitarian foundation to impart some industrial chic to a high-traffic space. We replaced the glass top with a smoke bronze (transparent dark brown) acrylic, which adds a sultry glow when lit. It makes an ingenious curio cabinet for fine china, antiques, curiosities, photos—actually, anything worth framing. If you’re looking for a stylish standing desk for your office, you’ve found it. It will be dearly missed, but I will be happy to know someone with an acute eye for fine design swooped it up on Chairish here.

I’ve pulled a few items that speak to my industrial chic decor style. Enjoy.
