Pulling off impeccable taste doesn’t have to be head-to-toe expensive. A personal style combo that I find nails the impression of polished is statement shoes and flawless hair. This fashion duo instantly achieves a flawless look, leaving everything in between to go without question. Yet, attaining an enviable coiffure shouldn’t be a mystery or reserved for those exempt from bad hair decisions—we’ve all been there! Like most style statements, mastering the art of beautiful hair is an investment and Philip B.’s all-natural, raw botanical products are worth the splurge.
The Hollywood hair-treatment guru has a mantra that values mother earth: “When in doubt, look to nature. I am always looking for the next botanically charged raw material. One experience is worth a thousand words,” the healthy hair expert tells us. Our first thousand-word Philip B. experience came from his Oud Royal Forever Shine Conditioner, $85, which smells absolutely divine and features a first-of-its-kind time-released botanical hydrators with molecules small enough to penetrate through the hair’s fiber. Just two washes with this luxurious conditioner and we were back for more.
We’ve since converted our entire hair-care regime to be a focused study in all things Philip B. Our routine begins with Peppermint and Avocado Volumizing and Clarifying Shampoo, $28, which leaves a refreshing scalp tingle and we interchange the Oud Royal conditioner every other wash with the Classic Formula Light-Weight Deep Conditioning Crème Rinse, $26, which prevents buildup and deeply moisturizes with African Shea butter, wheat germ and soy proteins. Mr. defines his curls with Oud Royal Mega-Curl Enhancer, $50, which leaves a distinctive waft of the heavenly oud scent and creates super-shiny, bouncy curls without weight or stickiness. To maintain luscious, healthy locks I apply Lovin’ Leave-In Conditioner, $24, after all washes, which also sends you off smelling like a fresh bouquet. In between washes I’ll revive a hairstyle with Russian Amber Imperial Dry Shampoo, $28. It’s lightweight, invisible, creates volume and smells amazing!
Naturally, Lady Holiday had to ask what our number one hair care specialist defined as a life well lived: “Owning your ass at the end of the day. Have no regrets before bed. Don’t go to sleep angry and always do what you want when you can. Oh, and always be humble and nice—that’s the good life,” Philip says. We couldn’t agree more.
